Knock it Off Starts Tomorrow!

The Knock it Off series starts tomorrow, and from what I've already seen from the participants, I can promise that it's going to be an awesome month here at E&E.  Be prepared to be inspired to find creative ways to knock off great looks at a fraction of what they'd normally cost you!

So, what is a knock off, anyway?  Well, according to Merriam-Webster, it's: 

knockoff

 \ˈnäk-ˌȯf\ 

a copy that sells for less than the original; broadly : a copy or imitation of someone or something popular

While we're not intending to sell the items we're making, we definitely like the idea of dressing our children in clothing for less, made with love!

KCW & Bubble Pocket Shorts Round up

Kid's Clothes Week is over!  Whew!  I really enjoyed sewing along and having that added motivation to get some outfits done.  Looking at the roundup of clothing I made, it's clear to see that Tobias' wardrobe was a bit neglected.  So, next time, more boy clothes.  Did everyone else who participated have as much fun as I did!?!?  

One of the huge highlights of the week for me as I looked through the Elsie Marley Flickr group, was  seeing multiple gorgeous variations of a certain garment: BUBBLE POCKET SHORTS (and Ruffle Tops, too)!  Wow!  So many adorable versions, I just had to share some of them here.  If you've made anything E&E, don't forget to add your photos to the E&E Flickr Group.

It was a very happy day the morning I discovered Jessica had sent me her new pattern, the Riding Pants . Not only is she one of the nicest ladies you'll ever know in blogland (and in real life, too, I'm sure!), but she's the incredible talent behind Me Sew Crazy, the Sewing Rabbit, and SewSet (among other ventures).  And this pattern is awesome, to say the least.  It took me an hour and a half from start to finish, and has a ton of possibilities for customizing to your personal taste.  I've never actually sewn a proper faux fly, and I'm super happy with the result.  And the button detail at the ankle...such a perfect touch.  Thank you, Jess, for this wonderful pattern!  I'll definitely be making more!

measurement above + 2 inches (5cm) = length

button size + 1 inch (2.5cm) = width (using a 3/8"/1cm seam allowance) 

Optional interfacing should be same length as above X button width
