patterns now available!!
It all started with the purchase of this amazing book: BurdaStyle Sewing Vintage Modern. I simply had to have it because if there's one thing I love, it's vintage modern style.
I chose to remix two of the patterns to create a new outfit for Anja: the Ruffle Top, inspired by the Amelia, and the Sailor Pocket Shorts, in the style of the Liv Bell-Bottoms.
When I saw the Liv Bell-Bottoms in BurdaStyle Sewing Vintage Modern, I instantly envisioned them becoming some adorable little shorts. One of my favourite details of the shorts (besides the functioning button front and the pockets) is the contrast fabric on the inside. I added an extra buttonhole for the adjustable waistband to contain the loose end.
With the Ruffle Top, my aim was to keep the overall shape of the Amelia Top, but add feminine ruffles in the seams. The single pearl button seemed the perfect choice to close the keyhole back opening and the ties help to customize the fit.

This is some seriously gorgeous sewing, Heidi!!!
ReplyDeleteHaha I was just going to say "seriously gorgeous" and that's exactly what Cherie said! Um...guess I'll need to be more creative. But this outfit is really fantastic, I love it to bits. Just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteoh, this is one of those can't contain my excitement, need to get to my sewing machine and do this NOW kind of outfits. Initially i loved the shorts but i also am just in love with that shirt pattern. My very active crawler can't wear dresses at the moment and this outfit competes in the cuteness stakes with any dress!

ReplyDeletePositively perfect. I love that you used simple fabric with great texture with such a complicated look. It looks like you didn't over look a single detail. Such better quality and style than you would ever be able to get in store.
ReplyDeleteI love those shorts, I want to make some for my little girl and I want an unscaled version of the shirt for me. Great job!
