Zara Leggings Knock-Off

Sunday, December 9, 2012

Here's a quick & easy tutorial for a cute pair of leggings, inspired by these Zara knitted leggings, up-cycled from the sleeves of an inexpensive cardigan I bought at Walmart.

This is the original sweater that I purchased for $5 in the clearance section:

Cut the front and back pieces from the sleeve.
Next, cut the two button plackets, slightly longer than the cuffs.  Turn each end, and sew close to each edge.

Sew the front & back rise and inseams.
Sandwich the button plackets between the front and back, and then sew your side seams.

Attach your buttons.
Complete the waistband by inserting the elastic.

All done!

Come back tomorrow for one last guest knock-off by another amazing designer mom, Justine, from Sew Country Chick.

  1. so warm and cozy!!!! I've been trying to hold off on going to goodwill until I work though upcycling more of the cast offs I've been given... but I don't have many sweaters and there are so many good sweater refashions for the cold winter months.
